The Advisory Council for Consumer Affairs conducts research into the position of consumers in Germany. Its goal is to monitor trends across the entire spectrum and to identify topics of future relevance. It outlines negative developments and current challenges, while also devising innovative concepts. This work helps the Ministry to be more targeted, more fundamental, and more anticipatory in how it shapes consumer policy.
The Advisory Council for Consumer Affairs presents the results of its work in expert opinions setting out proposals for principles and objectives of consumer policy. The Advisory Council also seeks to empower consumers by providing information, advice and education.
Furthermore, the Council can review existing consumer policy instruments, suggest the introduction of new instruments, and provide statements on other topics and developments relevant to consumers.
