Professor for Psychology of Intelligent Interactive Systems at Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg
Carolin Wienrich holds a degree in psychology and a doctorate from TU Berlin. After holding a junior professorship in human-technology systems and a visiting professorship in computer vision, she currently is a professor for the psychology of intelligent interactive systems at the Julius-Maximilians-University of Würzburg. Her research focuses on the analysis, design and evaluation of human-machine interactions, especially in immersive environments such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and spatial computing. She analyzes how immersive experiences influence our perception, our behavior and our social interactions and designs interactive therapy and prevention systems, learning environments and innovative workspaces. In addition, she researches how humans interact with artificial intelligence. In her human-AI test center she studies how humans and AI cooperate, which AI-skills humans need to possess and how these can be measured and trained. In this context she also contributes to a transparent and human-centered design of AI systems.
She is working intensively on the challenges posed by the merging of physical and virtual reality and emphasizes the need to design technical developments in this field in a responsible and human-centered way.
