Curriculum Vitae
After studying economics and sociology at the universities of Hamburg and Kiel, she received her doctorate from Humboldt University Berlin. Subsequently, Veronika Grimm worked at the Universidad de Alicante and the University of Cologne and spent extended research stays at the Université libre de Bruxelles and the Université Catholique de Louvain. From 2008 to 2024, she was Professor of Economics and held the Chair of Economics, in particular Economic Theory, at Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg.
Professional Activities and Memberships
Since 2020, Veronika Grimm has been a member of the German Council of Economic Experts. She is also active on numerous committees and advisory boards, including the National Hydrogen Council, the Scientific Advisory Board of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), the Expert Commission on the ‘Energy of the Future’ monitoring process at the BMWK, the ‘Future Circle’ of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, and the Energy Steering Panel of the European Academies’ Science Advisory Council.
Research
Professor Grimm’s research focuses on energy markets and energy market modelling, behavioural economics, social networks, as well as on topics in auctions and market design. At the Energy Campus Nuremberg, she directs the research division on energy market design. Professor Grimm has published numerous articles in leading academic journals, including the Economic Journal, the European Journal of Operational Research, the Journal of the European Economic Association, and the Journal of Economic Theory. She has received several awards for transferring scientific knowledge into practice.
